OUR TRAININGS

At Matcor, we aim not only to provide excellent services but also to impart our knowledge to parties in the relevant industries. Through a wide range of courses, ranging from general Forensic and Corrosion Engineering courses to specific API preparatory courses for examination, participants will acquire both theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on experience with real samples to ensure a deeper understanding of the particular course attended.

With trainers, each having had over 20 years of industry experience, course participants can be assured that they are being taught by leading experts in the field of forensic and failure investigation.

Corrosion Engineering

Although corrosion is regarded as nature’s way of converting a refined metal to a more stable form, its impact on the economy has been significantly astounding in all the industries. Studies in the United States alone has estimated total annual economic impact of corrosion on the US economy to be in hundreds of billions in direct costs. Indirect costs such as social costs would easily double this figure.

This 3-day interactive training provides general concepts of recognizing corrosion problems, establishing the causes of corrosion and selection of corrosion control methods. Some actual case histories of corrosion related failures will also be presented and studied to help participants gain practical knowledge on the application of these principles.

Failure Analysis and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) of Boiler System

Boilers are considered to be part of the critical and essential production facility in Oil and Gas, Utility and Marine industries. A failure in the system may translate to sizeable loss time, production and costs, not neglecting the importance of life and safety at stake.

This 3-day interactive training/workshop introduces the fundamentals and methodologies of failure analysis and the basic knowledge of solving and preventing failures in boiler system.

Forensic Engineering Investigation Course

Failure of components or sometimes the entire structure often pose significant impact and threats to safety, economic and even to environmental issues. A detailed understanding and analysis of the causes is usually deemed as basic requirement in order to prevent similar failures from recurring in the future.

This 2-day interactive training/workshop provides some of the fundamentals and practical approach of forensic investigation, the various modes and causes of failures to better understand the macro and micro aspects of engineering components and structural failures.

API 510 – Pressure Vessel Inspector Certification Preparatory Course

This is an intensive 5 days training to provide a comprehensive understanding of the design, inspection and maintenance of pressure vessels based on API 510 standards. It aims to provide the oil, gas and petrochemical industries with the assurance that pressure vessel inspectors have been trained under this internationally recognized program to have the required knowledge and experience for inspection of in-service pressure vessels.

Course participants aspiring to be certified by API will get well versed with the various code books and standards to be prepared for the API 510 examination.

API 570 – Piping Inspector Preparation Course

This is an intensive 5 days training to provide a comprehensive understanding of the design, inspection and maintenance of process piping based on API 570 standards. It aims to provide the oil, gas and petrochemical industries with the assurance that piping inspectors have been trained under this internationally recognized program to have the required knowledge and experience for inspection of in-service process piping.

Course participants aspiring to be certified by API will get well versed with the various code books and standards to be prepared for the API 570 examination.

API 580 – RISK BASED INSPECTION Certification Preparatory Course

This is a 3 days training course to provide a comprehensive understanding on the concepts of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) based on API 580 principles. RBI is a risk management tool focusing on mechanical integrity of pressure equipment items so as to mitigate the risk of loss of containment due to degradation. The training aims to provide the oil, gas and petrochemical industries with the assurance that the individuals have been trained under this internationally recognized program to have the required specialization and proficiency in this very important field.

Course participants aspiring to be certified by API as a validation of their deep knowledge on RBI will be trained and prepared for the API 580 examination.

API 653 – Aboveground Storage Tank Inspector Certification Preparation Course

This is an intensive 5-day training course to provide a comprehensive understanding of the design, inspection and maintenance of aboveground storage tanks based on API 653 standards. It aims to provide the oil, gas and petrochemical industries with the assurance that inspectors have been trained under this internationally recognized program to have the required knowledge and experience for inspection of in-service aboveground storage tanks.

Course participants aspiring to be certified by API will get well versed with the various code books and standards to be prepared for the API 653 examination.
